LEARNING AT BODIAM – ‘Bodiam Brings out the Best’
We have high expectations in every area of school life and are learning centred.
Key drivers in ensuring that pupils strive for excellence are :
- Continuing to develop the RIVERSIDE FEDERATION as we move forward together with Etchingham C E School.
- Giving high value to enabling pupils to have the opportunity to be actively involved in and steering their learning on a day to day basis.
- Promoting a ‘Curriculum for Learning’ which frequently involves real life contexts, motivates and engages pupils through high quality learning opportunities and their involvement with curriculum design and is FUN!
- Encouraging ‘Behaviour for Learning’ which ensures that high priority is given to developing the respect and equality that permeate all aspects of school life.
- Encouraging partnership and good communication with parents. Only with effective home / school partnerships can pupils be the best they can be.
SIAMS 2016
The school has a strong and distinctive child-centred Christian ethos and clear Christian values which impact deeply and positively on the school’s outstanding provision and excellent outcomes for the pupils
OFSTED 2017
The rich, vibrant and exciting curriculum is a key strength of the school. Although the development of pupils’ literacy and numeracy skills is given rightful priority, this is not at the expense of learning across a broad range of other subjects. Staff make careful and appropriate links between subjects to help learning to make sense and be memorable for pupils. ‘Reveal days’ help to stimulate pupils’ curiosity in new topics and teachers use the questions that pupils pose as a result to help to shape their subsequent learning. Pupils take genuine care in producing some beautiful work across subjects
